The Pillow Book
We use pillows in prayer, when kneeling in relaxed contemplation, and we use them to elevate devotional objects. They support our bodies in pain, after surgery, when we are at our weakest and most vulnerable. We snuggle with them for comfort, and they contain the dream projections we experience while in deep sleep: when our bodies recharge each night, revisit memories, solve problems, and confront fears from the safety of the imagination.
