Color for a change
I feel compelled this week to take my mentor’s suggestion to hang up a bunch of large canvas on the wall and see what happens. So here we are… painting while I’m listening to dance music… Balkan Brass, Middle Eastern Techno, Bhangra, and Brasileiro. It’s impossible to sit still while listening to this dance music.
I’m putting myself in the middle of the canvas as a way to emphasize a drive to be in the center, and the marks that escape the center, as I go into uncharted territory, professionally and personally. A combination of wrist gestures, love of the feathery brush, and inspired by Pat Steir, the transparency of dripping paint adding and subtracting the layers underneath.
All pieces in Acrylic, 33 x 66”. To be continued and developed.
