Egg-oil underpainting white

As a student of Venetian painting techniques, I appreciate the quality of atmosphere brought to a painting by layering with a traditional egg oil underpainting white. It holds it’s presence underneath layers of oil glaze, and it brings a luminosity that you just don’t see in a commercial tube of white paint.
