Ascendant Descension

To create this larger than body-sized work, I dragged myself sideways with only upper body strength, letting my legs drag behind me. Created yesterday, my back hurts today, reminding me how loss of mobility can impact body health.

Over the course of several semesters, I see that falling/floating are images that have come up several times. I don’t know why. There is terror in falling, and freedom in floating. I have had recurring dreams where I swim breast-stroke into the air to escape frightening scenarios, often people chasing me. Up is the only way to escape.
