Gravity

I’ve been reading from Amy Sillman’s Faux Pas: Selected Writings and Drawings, and I’ve become obsessed with her theory about two ways of being as an artist: painters versus “draw-ers.” Painters as artists who begin with the big idea and drill down to details. Draw-ers work from the weeds outward, maybe never getting to a big picture at all. Maybe never having the “master narrative”. I need to discuss. Perhaps it’s similar to what my husband talks about when he refers to depth first versus layer first. I don’t know… I just feels good to build some thing.
