Inspired by the photographic collages of an artist I have just discovered, I wondered if overlaying a painting that is giving me trouble with one that I rather like might bring a result that would be more formally and conceptually interesting. The idea of protection, and hiding away has been a major focus lately, and that comes with positive and negative connotations. What is “Freedom”? And what is “Safety”?
